Arcadia Biosciences is Named in the 2014 Global Cleantech 100

--List Recognizes the Top Private Companies in Clean Technology--

DAVIS, Calif. (October 14, 2014) - Arcadia Biosciences, an agricultural technology company focused on developing agricultural products that benefit the environment and enhance human health, announced today it was named in the prestigious 2014 Global Cleantech 100, an international list of private companies representing the most innovative and promising ideas in clean technology.

“Our inclusion in the Global Cleantech 100 is a direct reflection of the progress we’ve made in developing technologies that address the challenges of feeding our growing global population, while minimizing the environmental impact of agriculture,” said Eric Rey, Arcadia’s president and CEO.

Arcadia’s agronomic performance traits comprise a number of technologies that are designed to make agriculture more efficient and less harmful to the environment. Nitrogen use efficiency, which is analogous to increasing fuel economy in cars, is designed to help crops achieve the same yield with less fertilizer. Arcadia is also developing water use efficiency, salinity tolerance, abiotic stress tolerance, heat tolerance, and herbicide tolerance using a variety of advanced genetic approaches.

The Global Cleantech 100 list features companies that are best positioned to solve tomorrow’s clean technology challenges as well as the highest potential to make the most significant market impact. This year, a record number of nominations were received from 5,995 distinct companies in 60 countries. These companies were whittled down to create a short list of 327 companies. Cleantech Group’s 84-member expert panel reviewed these nominees, resulting in a final list of 100 companies from 17 countries.

“The Global Cleantech 100 each year provides us with invaluable insight into which companies key market players think are most likely to have a significant impact in the next 5-10 years,” said Richard Youngman, Cleantech Group’s Managing Director, Europe & Asia, and creator of the program.

The complete list of 100 companies was revealed on October 6th at the Global Cleantech 100 Summit & Gala in Washington, D.C.
